What Is Microsoft Office 365?
Office 365 is Microsoft’s new delivery system for it’s Office suite of services. Rather than investing in a one-off purchase for the latest Office incarnation, you subscribe to a service for a periodic fee, and it gives you the latest versions of the program. Currently, this is Office 2016, which is available for both PCs and Macs.
The advantage of this subscription service is that when new versions of the software are released, you will be eligible to upgrade without any additional costs and can make use of the latest innovations and newest features straight away.
Office 365 comes with OneDrive, Microsoft’s online cloud storage for your files and documents. This enables you to keep your files, documents and photos synchronised across multiple devices, so you can access them whenever you need to. You can even edit your office documents directly from the web, which really offers employees great flexibility in terms of how and where they work. OneDrive also lets you access your files and photos from absolutely anywhere, meaning that you can share them and work on them with anyone in your business.
Skype For Business
Skype for Business is now part of Office 365, replacing Microsoft Lync. It is a voice, messaging and screen share application, which is especially useful for remote workers. It can revolutionise your staff’s ability to communicate with each other, providing high-quality video calls on standard equipment.
Microsoft Office apps are available for free on mobile devices, smartphones and tablets, However, Office 365 subscribers get access to several useful extra features, like being able to insert section breaks and to add columns to page layouts. Such extras can add a sheen of professionalism to the documents that your staff create when away from the office.
In addition, Microsoft Office 365 also includes hosted email (with or without legal hold features that prevent permanent deletion).
